The evidential breath alcohol testers (EBTs) or “breathalyzers” are high-precision handheld breath alcohol analyzers. They are tested and approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a part of the DOT, as well as multiple forensic laboratories and laboratories in several other countries. Lifeguard Personal Breath Tester

Portable breath testers using fuel cell technology have been in widespread professional use for over 25 years in law enforcement, the workplace, corrections, and related markets where alcohol abuse is a serious individual or public safety and health concern.

LifeGuard, for the first time, makes this highly reliable technology available to the consumer at an affordable price: a trustworthy breathalyzer for serious users who need to rely on the accuracy of their test results. Personal breath testers can be divided into two types by the different technologies used to measure breath alcohol content: platinum fuel cell technology and semiconductor technology. Lifeloc platinum fuel cell technology is appropriate for precision breath alcohol content (BAC) measurement. Semiconductor technology is not.

All breath testers require periodic calibration to maintain their accuracy. Your LifeGuard is designed to be calibrated by a factory-certified calibration technician. It is recommended that your LifeGuard be calibrated at least once every 12 months.

Breath Alcohol Screening Device (ASD)

The FC Series of Lifeloc breathalyzers are the professional’s choice for accuracy, reliability, and ease of use. Engineered and manufactured in the United States for law enforcement, military, probation, parole, schools, and related applications, the FC Series of platinum fuel cell testers offer a long working life, unsurpassed ASD alcohol test accuracy, and the fastest response time in the industry.

For direct breath alcohol content measurement and evidential accuracy, we offer the FC10 and FC10Plus, approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and included on the DOT conforming products list of evidential breath alcohol testers. An impressive selection of advanced features includes password protection, test memory, a computer interface, and wireless printing.

According to DOT regulations, alcohol screening devices (ASD) on the NHTSA conforming products lists for non-evidential breath testing can be used to conduct alcohol screening tests under 49 CFR Part 40. An ASD breathalyzer can be used only for screening tests for alcohol, and may not be used for confirmation tests.

FC10

The Lifeloc FC10 includes direct breath alcohol content (BAC) testing and passive alcohol screening in one instrument. Passive testing does not require a mouthpiece and is perfect for rapid “zero tolerance” alcohol screening of subjects and “sniffing” of open containers. Known for its long life and fast recovery times, the FC10 is likely the only breath alcohol tester you will ever need.

For ease of use and operator safety, the FC10 provides audible and graphical breath flow and alcohol content indicators to signal important test situations such as insufficient breath, reverse breath flow, possible uncooperative subjects, and a pre-indication of low, medium, or high BAC subject levels. Actual BAC results are displayed on the large, easy-to-read display.

Unlike other devices on the market, the FC Series devices use a full 64-character backlit display with text prompts (rather than difficult-to-remember status codes). For long life and test reliability, Lifeloc uses a full-size one-inch (25.4-millimetre) platinum fuel cell, which is up to four times larger than competitive electrochemical cells. In passive testing, a unique double-pump breath sampling system ensures rapid testing of multiple subjects. Advanced security and lock-out features eliminate unauthorized operation.

FC10Plus

The FC10Plus Portable Breath Alcohol Tester offers everything found in the Lifeloc FC10 breathalyzer plus password protection, 10-test memory, and an advanced lockout feature to keep your results and settings safe. The Lifeloc FC10Plus also includes real-time date and time stamping.

The full-size one-inch electrochemical fuel cell in the FC Series is alcohol specific. It ensures fast response and recovery time and unsurpassed working life.

Three test modes provide the operator with maximum control and testing options in any situation. During subject testing, the visual breath flow graph gives real-time notice of possible test manipulation, shy lung, or uncooperative subjects. The BAC graph provides the operator with an early indication of subject intoxication level before the actual BAC is displayed.

Lifeloc cares about operator safety and well-being. Our patented EasyTab™ mouthpiece is self-aligning under any lighting condition. Exhaled breath is directed away from the operator, and you never have to touch the “wet” end of a used mouthpiece to discard or replace a mouthpiece.
