Employee Awareness Training

This health and safety awareness course meets and exceeds the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) employee training requirements.  It is also highly recommended for non-DOT employers as it conforms to the Construction Owners Association of Alberta Canadian Model and industry standards for workplace health and safety.

This course is suggested for all employees who are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with a workplace drug and alcohol policy.

Training Goal

The course provides education on policy related to drugs and alcohol, how drug and alcohol testing is conducted, also the training introduces workers to what follow-up and support are provided based on a positive test result, and focuses on the health effects of drug and alcohol use and abuse.

Course Outline

  •  Drug and alcohol testing in the workplace
  • Specific drugs of abuse
    • Alcohol
    • Marijuana
    • Cocaine/crack
    • Amphetamines/methamphetamines
    • Opiates
    • PCP
  • A question and answer period at the end of the course

Course Length

  •  Two hours of classroom training that covers a general introduction to workplace drug and alcohol testing along with
  •  A one-hour eLearning module to complete through the CannAmm Learning Centre

  • Live support is available from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm MST

  • The self-paced portion of the training is available 24/7 and is compatible with tablets as well as mobile devices
  • Easily accessible records of training—a 4 steps safety awareness training certificate is available that can be shared if needed for auditing purposes or if proof of certification is required from an employer
