One workplace tragedy is one too many.

Did you know that today, three families in Canada will receive the news that a loved one is not returning home from work? Thousands of Canadians have been woven together by a workplace tragedy in need of grief counseling; crisis intervention support; health coping skills; workplace investigations and inquiries support; financial compensation; community building and a voice to help prevent other Canadian families from experiencing the same pain and suffering.

Threads of Life was the first organization in the world to offer a peer support program to family members who are living in the aftermath of a workplace tragedy. Peer support is provided by trained volunteers who have also experienced their own workplace tragedy.

This past weekend, and the weekend prior, CannAmm was lucky enough to take part in the annual Steps for Life walk hosted  by Threads of Life. Steps for Life is a fundraiser where people get together and raise funds to provide programs and services to Canadian families who have suffered as a result of workplace tragedy. The funds also help in educating communities about the devastating ripple effects of each workplace tragedy, and promote a cultural shift to improve health and safety in the workplace so that others will not have to experience a workplace fatality, traumatic life-altering injury, or occupational disease.

Here at CannAmm, we strongly believe in getting involved with the community. Whether it be by volunteering or donating, we feel that it is important for businesses to rally around their communities in order to give back. CannAmm is fortunate enough to be a national sponsor for the Steps for Life walk, and encourage others to take a look at this important organization to see how they can get involved.
