• Employment Physicals
  These face-to-face exams performed by a health care professional establishes the baseline health status and fitness for entry into employment. Employment physicals are a legislative requirement in many provinces for various industries and roles.

• Periodic Physicals
  The demands of many workplace environments require periodic medical exams to recertify fitness to perform duties in safety sensitive or harsh environments. Periodic physicals are a legislative requirement in some provinces for various industries and roles.

• International Work Travel Physicals
  These medical assessments are appropriate for those going on physically strenuous or medically remote work assignments. Typically work under potentially adverse conditions including remoteness and exposure to biological risks (for example, malaria). International Work Travel Physicals are almost always required when obtaining the papers to perform safety sensitive work out of country.

• Back/Musculoskeletal Assessments
  In addition to a general employment medical, a more specific assessment can be added further focusing the exam and documentation on the back and extremities.

• Chest X-rays
  The addition of a baseline chest X-ray is beneficial if the work environment poses any long or short term respiratory risks. Periodic chest X-rays may help in early identification of disease or illness.

• Pulmonary Function Testing (Spirometry)
  Testing the actual functional capacity of the lungs is extremely valuable in establishing the baseline pulmonary function. This is vital in risk management as is periodic monitoring for early disease identification.

• Cardiovascular Risk Assessments
  Utilizing medical history, examination details and laboratory blood testing an evidence based risk assessment can be designed for the individual. This promotes employee wellness and assists in determining save work site placement.

• Cardiac Stress Testing/Exercise Stress Testing
  In situations where work environments place individuals in remote, hazardous, or highly safety critical positions a comprehensive cardiovascular evaluation can be highly desirable for the safety of the individual and others.

• Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  Electrocardiograms confirm that the individual has a stable cardiac status. This status is essential for any safety critical position.

• Audiograms (Hearing Tests)
  Is the measure of hearing sensitivity over a series of frequencies.  The audiogram includes examination of the outer and inner ear in order to identify abnormalities which could impede the ability to hearing pure tone sounds.  The performance of work related audio in most Canadian provinces is mandated by regulations.

• Hearing Conservation Programs
  Involves using a variety of measures to reduce or avoid exposure to and the effects of noise.  This includes but is not limited to: the use of hearing protection, periodic assessments of hearing (audiograms), the comparison of periodic audiograms to the baseline audio, counseling in the use of hearing protection, physical noise barriers and creating an awareness of the dangers of noise.

• Immunizations and Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
  Provides for the prevention of preventable disease through the administration of vaccines.  It is provided for those at risk of exposure to biological agents, which cause disease.  Examples include: travel to tropical or sub-Saharan regions; areas with poor sanitation; areas where disease is spread by insects; and, those who handle contaminated items including blood and body fluids.   Occupations include sanitation engineers, miners, surveyors, drillers, and hospital and laboratory staff.

• Biological and Toxic Substance Monitoring
  Laboratory testing of the blood and urine provides a “window” in which to assess fitness, uncover safety critical illness and promote wellness for the employee. Not only can toxic substances be monitor but the potential effects of toxin may be revealed and monitored.

• Blood Testing: Industry Specific and Custom
  Set industries have been found to have high exposure risks for various workplace hazards that are only detectible through biological laboratory testing prior to symptom onset.
